Foxtrot X-Ray helps bring INNER DEMONS to SXSW

“Mya's world takes a harrowing twist when pills meant to alleviate depression unwittingly unleash a nightmarish entity that embodies her inner turmoil. Mya finds herself entangled in a relentless battle against her own psyche, fighting not just for her mental well-being but her very survival.

"Inner Demons" is a chilling exploration of the human mind's darkest corners, exploring the nature of internal strife where the boundary between reality and the supernatural blurs.”

When director Jasmine J. Johnson set out to make her intimate horror short “Inner Demons” she brought Foxtrot X-Ray aboard to help bring her terrifying visions to life. Having worked with the Foxtrot X-Ray team on the award-winning feature The Angry Black Girl and her Monster (on which she was a producer), Jasmine knew that the she could count on us to create the fantastical while at the same time keeping the imagery grounded in reality. The result is a harrowing short that makes effective use of body horror to explore issues of mental health.

Having premiere at Dances With Films’ New York edition in December 2023, the film continues on the festival circuit as 2024 ramps up, screening at Final Girls Berlin, Pan-African Film & TV Festival, DC Independent Film Forum, and in March at the prestigious SXSW Film Festival in their Midnight Shorts Competition. Foxtrot X-Ray will be there to support the film, so if you’re at SXSW make sure we connect!
