Foxtrot X-Ray helps Eli Roth bring ‘The Faceless Lady’ to life!

After having contributed VFX to 2023’s “Be Mine: A VR Valentines’ Slasher", Foxtrot X-Ray was once again privileged to collaborate with horror legend Eli Roth and the team at Crypt TV for “The Faceless Lady”, a VR episodic horror series premiering on April 4 at 5 p.m. PT in Meta Horizon Worlds. Foxtrot X-Ray contributed 40+ VFX shots to the project, working for the first time in 180-degree stereoscopic VR.

From the Variety article published today:

“The storyline, set in Ireland, is inspired by the real 17th century Irish folklore of Lady Margaret Hodnett, who is said to haunt Cork’s Belvelly Castle by stalking visitors through mirrors and reflective surfaces. “The Faceless Lady” has been adapted for modern day with a supernatural twist, following three couples who have been invited to a medieval castle for a weekend competition in Ireland — where they will either win Lady Margaret’s games or lose their lives.”

Presented by Roth, the series is written by Jerome Velinsky and directed by John William Ross. Tara Lee and Staz Nair star in “The Faceless Lady,” along with Daisy Jelley, Mei Henri, Ugo Onwughalu, Sophie Rebecca-Jones and Ned Dennehy. VR production services were rendered by Light Sail VR and co-executive producers Robert Watts and Matt Celia. The Foxtrot X-Ray team consisted of VFX Supervisor Paul DeNigris, VFX Producer Laura Skowronski Nattam, CG Supervisor Seth Wise, Compositing Supervisor Gabe Vigil, Compositor Calum Merry, Matchmover Yury Korshunov, and Stereographer David Maldonado (of Blade Runner 2049, Thor: Ragnarok and many many more).

Check out the trailer below, where you’ll see some of Foxtrot X-Ray’s shots, although to see our best stuff - and to see it in VR and 3D, which is a trip - you’ll have to tune into the show on April 4th. Get your Meta Quests ready!
