Texas Moving Image Industry Incentive Program

​In Texas, the Texas Moving Image Industry Incentive Program (TMIIIP) provides cash grants to qualifying animation and visual effects (VFX) projects based on eligible in-state spending.

Incentive Structure:

  • Base Grant:

    • 5% for spending between $250,000 and $1 million​

    • 10% for spending between $1 million and $3.5 million​

    • 20% for spending over $3.5 million​

  • Additional Grant:

    • An extra 2.5% is available for projects allocating at least 10% of their eligible in-state spending to post-production activities.​

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Minimum Texas Spending:

    • $250,000 for film and television projects​

    • $100,000 for commercial projects​

  • Residency Requirements:

    • At least 55% of the paid crew and 55% of the paid cast, including extras, must be Texas residents.​

Application Process:

  1. Inquiry Submission: Complete the Incentives Inquiry Form with basic project details, including estimated Texas expenditures and tentative production dates.​

  2. Application Window: Submit your application no earlier than 180 days before production starts and no later than 5 PM, five business days before production begins.​

  3. Required Documentation: Provide a detailed budget of anticipated Texas spending and relevant content materials.​
