When Evie Jones rushes off a flight to make her connection, she has no idea that in her haste, she has grabbed the wrong green duffel bag. Unbeknownst to her, the one Evie has taken belongs to Jake Webber. Thus ensues a series of mishaps, missed messages and misunderstandings as each tries to get the bag back to its rightful owner. But the struggle proves well worth it when through their lost bags, they find each other. (IMDb)
Foxtrot X-Ray created about 70 VFX shots for this charming rom-com, including clean-up, screen comps, texting graphics, and this showstopper full CG plane shot for the film’s finale. The majority of this film was shot on location, so it required extensive branding cleanup, and reflection paint outs, among other things. Screen replacements and texting graphics were also a key part of this film to help communicate the nonverbal conversations characters were engaging in.
The finale includes a live action plate of the interior of an airplane, which then transitions to a fully CG environment, atmosphere, and airplane. Knowing that the finale sequence was going to include CG from the beginning, the shot where the camera travels through the window of the airplane was carefully shot to ensure that the glass appearing on the exterior of the aircraft wasn’t jarring. The sequence was then passed off to our CG Supervisor, Seth Wise, who carefully crafted wireframe renders to start to hammer down movement and feel. The sequence then went to compositing to create the seamless transition from the original plate to the fully CG section at the end.
