A young couple unwittingly spends all their money on a new home only to discover a terrible secret that puts not only their lives, but their afterlives at risk. - From the film’s official website.
Foxtrot X-Ray provided over 100 visual effects shots for Third Productions’ comedy horror feature Forever Home, including the above “energy barrier” which surrounds the film’s haunted house, and lots of other ghostly effects to sell the reality of the film’s premise. A key component of the film is floating gloves that a ghost steals in order to be seen by the humans in the film. To achieve this effect, we started with someone in a green suit wearing red gloves. In some situations we rotoscoped the gloves, in other cases we were able to pull a chroma key on the suit and slot in the clean plate that was also shot on set in preparation for the green suit to be removed. The energy barrier to separate the ghostly world from the mortal world consisted of proprietary energy effects, flame effects, and proprietary burning fabric effects. To ensure that the effect was going to read as real, the on-set team used practical smoke effects emitted by tubes running up the actor’s clothing.
